Mascara Talk

You know what really grinds my gears? Mascara ads and commercials. I'm sure I'm not the first to complain or even write about it on their blogs, but really, think about every ad you've ever seen advertising some new "miracle" mascara.

For example, the new ad for the L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Mascara* features the lovely Gwen Stefani obviously donning some false eyelashes herself. I've always been weary of purchasing mascara based on what I've seen on tv or in photos of models who are apparently wearing said product on their own lashes. I always just let my mom waste her money try the latest and so-called greatest to see if it's worth sampling, then she advises me later on. About 98% of the time, it's helpful (Max Factor Masterpiece anyone?) and then there's the few times when I think she's bonkers.

I don't ever get duped into buying mascaras unless I know someone who's used it, except for one time when I bought the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara which turned out to be a complete waste of money. First, the scent always made me gag and although it definitely does not clump, it doesn't do my short and foine fine Asian lashes any favors.

This post just sounds like a big wank fest on L'Oreal, but it really isn't because I happen to use the Voluminous Original Mascara on a daily basis and Lash Architect 4D was featured in one of my videos. I'm also a big fan of their Double Extend mascara line!

I forgot what my point was when I started writing this, but whatever, I'm over it.

Oh yeah, so in conclusion, if you really want to try a new mascara, tell one of your most loyal friends to try it first and convince him/her that it's the best thing evar since God invented Nutella. And if none of your friends like Nutella, then you probably need to find new ones.

*Side note: I think the L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Mascara might be the US version of Europe's L'Oreal Lash Architect 4D, as seen in my Eye Heart This: July/August video. The brushes look very similar.
