Confessions of a Hair Newbie

Hiya! So, some of you may not know this, but I'm actually not as girly as my blog suggests. I'm still getting the hang of it and in the hair department, I am WAY behind. I mean, I've just finally figured out how to curly my hair in an efficient manner like two months ago. Apart from ponytails and buns, I don't do much else in terms of up-do's... until now that is.

A couple of months ago, I saw a tutorial on Pinterest on how to do an easy Messy 4 Braid Up-do by Jenny Strebe of Confessions of a Hairstylist. It was pretty simple, just 4 braids and some bobby pins and you're good to go. Jenny's blog, by the way, is heaven sent for people like me who have absolutely NO idea how to do hair. She breaks it down so that anyone can do it.

Last week, she posted up a new tutorial which was similar to the 4 Braid Up-do except it was with fishtail braids. I had just learned how to do fishtails (I know I am SO late to the party) so I was super excited to try it. Here is my first attempt, which I did last Saturday and rocked pretty much the whole day:

I tweaked mine a little bit because I have a lot of hair and I was getting frustrated with doing the fishtail in the back. Instead of doing one braid in the back, I did two instead and then tied them together in a knot twice and bobby pinned the ends. I can't wait to wear this again. I just have to find the time for those darn fishtails because they take forever!
