My Top 3 Brow Pencils

If you know me, and I mean really know me, then you'll know that I am quite obsessed with my eyebrows. I genuinely believe that if you have good brows, then nothing else really matters. I never realized how much that mattered until one day, I saw a picture of myself and my eyebrows were nowhere to be found.

Okay, let me start again. I have eyebrows. They're just very sparse and they've always been that way. It took me a while to realize that I needed my eyebrows to stand out more if I was going to wear bold eyeshadow. For the last four years, I've gone through a whole slew of eyebrow powders and pencils, both drugstore and high-end brands, trying to determine which ones work better for me.

I use both pencil and powder, which all depends on the mood I'm in. I use the pencil if I want less-defined natural looking brows. I have yet to find my favorite brow powders so that post will have to wait. However, I am happy to say that I think I might've found THE brow pencils for me. Yes, pencils plural. I know, why not just choose one? I don't really know actually, haha! It's nice to have options don't you think?

These brow pencils made the list because they are the perfect shade (no red!) and are long-wearing on my oily skin.

From L-F:
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Brunette - If you're looking for some amazing brow products and you aren't on a budget, then Anastasia is your girl! It seems like they've got every brow product that a girl could dream of. I own several Anastasia products and love them all. This is my 3rd Brow Wiz purchase and probably won't be my last. This pencil is neither too hard nor too soft so it's very easy to apply. However, I think this is the softest and waxiest of the 3. Oh ya, this also comes with a spool at the other end. Can't live without this!
  • Maybelline Define-A-Brow in Dark Blonde - Ok, I may be a little snooty when it comes to brow products. I usually prefer stuff that's a little more high-end because most drugstore brand pencils are just so "red" that I actually wonder who buys them. Well, I was absolutely ecstatic when I found this baby. Someone told me that this was a good dupe for MAC's Lingering. I was very much intrigued by this since at this point I had decided that it couldn't get any better than Lingering. I am so glad I gave it a try because not only is it much cheaper ($5.99 @ Target), I think the color suits me better. This really is the perfect dupe as far as the consistency and longevity goes because the only the difference between this and Lingering is the price tag.
  • MAC Brow Crayon in Lingering - I bought this after I read on several blogs as well as seeing on many video tutorials that Lingering is the brow pencil. Basically, it supposedly suits almost all skin tones and hair color. Although it is the warmest of the 3, it's still not as red as most brown eyebrow pencils that are currently on the market. Lingering is probably the dryest/hardest of the 3.

I hope this helped you out in some way if you're on the hunt for a new brow pencil to try. If you're on a budget I HIGHLY recommend getting the Maybelline one in Dark Blonde. I think that shade suits almost anyone. Happy brows-ing!
